Lizard - Reptile Survey

Reptile Survey

Especially if your site has some scrub and rough grassland habitat, you may well have one or more of the widespread native reptile species Grass Snake, Slow-worm, Adder and Common Lizard. These are all legally protected, and since 2007, also UK Biodiversity Action Plan Priority Species. They are therefore not only a legal consideration, but a material consideration under PPS9 for local planning authorities considering planning consents.

A site assessment visit could tell you the likelihood of reptiles occurring on your site and being impacted by your proposed activities. This would then indicate whether further survey of your site to confirm presence or absence of the reptiles is actually justified.

If there was considered a significant risk of impact, then a presence/absence survey could be carried out for you in accordance with industry standard guidelines (produced by Natural England and Froglife). Adonis Ecology can undertake the surveys and reporting sufficient to resolve your issue rapidly and effectively.

Full reptile surveys can only be carried out in certain seasons, so contact us today to discuss your site and requirements in more detail.
